Overview:
The 16th Panzer Division had split the Soviet VIII Mechanized Corp causing it to be dispersed along the Brody-Dubno highway. Soviet Task Force Popel found itself surrounded by four German divisions as the 16th Panzer Division closed in from the south. Desperately defending between the Ikva River and the highway, Popel’s troops tenaciously held onto their positions, notably those of the 67th and 68th Tank Regiments at the village of Ptycha. Luftwaffe aircraft and German artillery pummeled Ptycha in a bombardment that lasted for two hours, then Hube’s 16th Panzer struck with a savage combined arms attack.Attacker: German (Schützen Regiment 64 and Panzer Regiment 2, Panzer Division 16)
