The Swedish Volunteer Corps Anti-Tank Gun Company had taken up position along the road leading from Kemijärvi to Märkäjärvi. On the afternoon of the 27th a "Ten-Ton Tank" showed up besides the road at the edge of the woods opposite the Swedish Position. The Swedes carefully took their aim, awaiting its next move. Suddenly the tank stopped, seemingly stuck in the snow. Instead of revealing the location of the anti-tank gun, indirect artillery fire was called in. But the shells fell with no effect. At that moment the stalled tank freed itself, and started moving.
Attacker: Russian (122nd Rifle Division)
Defender: Swedish (1, Pansarvärndsplutonen, Pansarvärnskompaniet, II. Stridsgruppen)
I took the Swedish volunteers in this small Winter War clash and went with an 'up front' defense. That backfired when my observer and phone were lost in CC, taking out the OBA. I expected the Soviet tanks to be the main threat, but the 37L ATGs killed two early. I killed the last tank in CC, but by then Trevor's infantry had the upper hand. Several casualty MCs left me with half squads against Trevor's 447s in CC, a losing battle. This is a fun scenario with lots of options for both sides. Good game!

Failed to grasp that I needed to prevent capture of the AT guns. In turn 4 I lost both of them to give the Russian win.

I think there were some poor tactics on both sides for this one. I squandered my tanks with all three out of action by turn 2 and the Swedes failed to adequately protect the southern flank where the FOO was hiding. I rushed almost everyone south and in the end I had 4 1/2 squads reach (not cross) hexrow X. Swedes had 1 squad covering the area and needed to break one squad for the win.

Very fast and nice little game. The russian AFVs were used for armoured assault first and then as sacrifices for freezing the swedes and that meant that it was possible to get most of the russians across to hexrow X. Then a few shots broke the swedes making it impossible to reduce enough of the russian force to hold their ground. Russian Victory!

The Swedes are tough in their trenches, but they really need to get the OBA to land on the Russians.

A last turn, last first fire, Russian squad pinned to deny him the win. I agree with earlier comments about replayability value, and can be done in one evening.
Got to push AT guns for first time ( in deep snow) to get them in position for a last turn tank kill for the win as well.

Despite breaking both the Swedish AT guns on their first shots, the OBA slowed the Russians down. The Russians could have won in the final turn, but the winning squad was KIAed next to the victory hex row. Great tight game that played fast.
