Overview:

Ill-equipped, undermanned and lacking any anti-tank artillery, the Polish defenders relied mostly on improvised anti-tank means such as bottles of gasoline or turpentine, small arms fire, and anti-tank obstacles. On 20 September, the tanks of the Soviet 27th Light Tank Brigade of the 15th Tank Corps reached the city's outskirts. Although both numerically and technically superior, the Soviet forces lacked infantry support and oil, which stopped many tanks. Also, the tank crews had no experience in urban warfare, which was a significant help for the defenders. The Soviets tried to seize the city from the south through the bridge over the Niemen River.
Attacker: Russian (27th Light Tank Brigade, 15th Tank Corps)

2023-03-17(A) Shane Pask vs Polish winPet peev: and/or - Are the VC and or or? In this scenario, the distinction is a big deal. Surely if only one building is required "or" is sufficient even if both are occupied. If both are required, "or" is not applicable.
Made a mistake early by entering CC with Russians - Poles did not need to win, just delay the Russians and they did. Commissar and 2 squads entered city hall on turn 4 but the Poles had prepared a welcome party. Russians broke all Poles except one squad and a hero. Poles gambled on CC (squad was green) attacking one squad and the commissar at 1:1. Rolled a 3 to kill them and Russians had nothing left. One BT5 malfed both CMG and MA (CMG disabled).
2022-10-14(D) Andy Bagley vs Mike Grogan Polish winThis in an exercise in how brave the Russians want to be. The obvious tactic is to rush the AFVs behind the Polish lines to prevent them running back to the victory buildings, but this involves running past possible MOLs. The Russian infantry - needed to fulfil the VCs - can be unloaded a safe distance back but then have very little time to reach the victory buildings; alternatively the trucks can get closer but then risk being hit by infantry fire before they can unload. And of course there's also the classic VBM-freeze tactic against any Poles in buildings at ground level, but this again is dangerous when they're armed with MOLs and any subsequent CC is far from a sure thing.
In our game the Russians approached cautiously at the start, and ran out of time before they could reach the victory buildings.
2022-08-22(A) Tom Abromaitis vs DrawSolo. Polish win. MANY MA breakdowns.
2021-04-04(A) rene cote vs mrosberg Russian win
2021-01-19(D) Mike Grogan vs Martin McKenzie Russian winA determined thrust up the eastern side gained the City Hall with the help of VBM freeze, Molotov's and Street Fighting not effective in stopping the Russians (apart from 1 Light Tank flamed with 'Snake eyes').
