Overview:

By March of 1938 Japanese forces controlled most of the Chinese Shandong Province. Despite the official non-expansionist policy that the Japanese High Command had enacted, the China Garrison Army continued to advance. To counter the Japanese aggression, the Chinese had gathered an army 600,000 strong in the Jiangsu Province immediately to the south. Ultimately, it was the Japanese intention to capture the city of Xuzhou, but in order to do so, they needed to isolate and reduced the small garrison at Tengxian first. The Chinese garrison of 2,000 men hunkered behind the city’s ancient walls having first brought all the supplies they had inside the town and sealing the north and south gates. Timely arrival of reinforcements from the south was their only hope of withstanding the siege. Believing that reinforcements were on the way, the Chinese Commanding Officer, Wang Mingzhang, asked his men to hold for four hours.

2023-08-13(A) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin Chinese winWhat a stinker of a scenario. Three easily defended entrances with more than enough chances to lay down fire lanes or +6fp shots with -2 DRMs. You could technically drop smoke with some of your squads, but 1s were few and far between for the Japanese, unlike the 4 snake eyes by the Chinese in IFT, MC rolls, and CC attacks. This all stung quite deeply, and it all started when a K/1 result on a leader and 3 squads resulted in a 2 and triple 4s, half-squadding 3 of my most valuable assets. The Gun is superfluous and serves no purpose other than to destroy a gate, if that. Stone buildings everywhere make attacking buildings such a pain as to only be attempted with banzais, and the fortified locations will only ever be used on the objective building. I would love to see a vlog out there of a Japanese win, as I am sure it can only exist if the defenders dice were swallowed by a black hole after rolling 30 consecutive boxcars.
2022-06-24(D) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites Chinese winThe Japanese 10-2 and several squads successfully breached on Turn 1, but the other Japanese group never managed a breach. The 10-2 fought by himself against the Chinese defenders. The Japanese failed badly in the various close combats. The Chinese won or exchanged on all of them for a heavy loss of the squads available to the Japanese 10-2. With nearly half of the Japanese still under unable to enter the fight and the 10-2 down to 2 full squads and a crew had to call it quits at the end of Turn 5 for a Chinese win.
2021-10-23(D) O Ramaille vs Chinese winThe Chinese garrison reinforced the West gate with 2 platoons and the other two with 1 platoon each while maintaining 3 squads in the objective building. The Japanese main attack was focused on the Eastern gate. The South gate blowed first and the Japanese force there attempted a Banzaï charge which revealed disastrous. The Eastern gate was then rubbled and the Japanese poured through it with efficiency. The Chinese however reorganized their defense to prevent the Japanese to reach the objective building. The Western gate finally fell and a succesful Banzaï charge forced the Chinese back. The objective building was in sight with several Chinese troops falling to hand-to-hand CC. The Japanese launched a few assaults but they were unable to enter the fortified building. They finally got in but a lone Chinese squad still resisted a the end of the game.
A Chinese victory despite the loss of 3/4th of the troops.
