Overview:

In April 1940, at the beginning of the invasion, the Norwegians were not able to stop the German advance. The invaders took full advantage of the element of surprise. The small defensive strongpoints were overwhelmed or easily encircled. Near Trøgstad, the German detachment “Gutsche” attacked a village to clear any roadblock and to secure the area. Captain Gutsche bet his men they would not meet strong enemy resistance. Captain Gutsche was unaware that Major Orre had deployed his company to defend the village.

2023-04-24(A) Dave Mareske vs Paul Works Norwegian winA very tight game and the German side bid 9 buildings, and got 8, but was in three marginally winnable CC on the last turn. Needless to say, those did not go my way. It seemed like the Germans could not pass a NMC, especially when they needed to. It was an interesting device bidding for the attacking side. There was no wind, and a mild breeze in the right direction would have been helpful. I would definitely play again.
