Overview:

During the early weeks of the Sino-Japanese war, the IJA moved into Mongolia in order to cut supply routes from Soviet Russia. After romping through weak Chinese resistance, Lt. Gen. Itagaki’s 5th Division turned to cross back over the Great Wall into northern China where growing Red Chinese guerilla activity had become a problem. Red Chinese general Lin Paio, ordered to take advantage of good intelligence, sent fast moving detachments to harass the enemy from the rear and to interdict their advance, while deploying his 115th Division in ambush along the mountain road between Pinghsing Pass and Laoyemaio.

2023-06-21(A) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Red Chinese winA completely hobbled Japanese setup with too many limitations and the fact that the DEFENDING side goes first, with more support weapons, better support weapons, and controlling all of the high ground makes the attacker's task of grabbing a stone temple on a level 4 hill or a CVP race (where they have barely over half the squad-equivalents as the Chinese). If you don't have a victory by turn 4, the Chinese are simply unlucky ( or Japanese the opposite) as surviving over open ground and point-blank attacks is quite unachievable.
