Overview:
The Soviets attacked again near Chelm on 21 September, suffered heavy casualties, and failed to break the Poles’ lines. Even with the defensive success the Poles were forced to withdraw, and the 3rd Border Regiment established a new defensive line on the Stochow River. The Polish regiment was reinforced with heavy artillery. After regrouping, the Soviets attacked the defenses on the Stochow, with their main effort heavily reinforced with tanks, artillery, sappers, and air support. As the battle raged, Polish artillery fired direct at the attacking tanks and infantry.Attacker: Russian (87th Rifle Division)
