Overview:

VIII Mechanized Corps had been ordered back and forth inside a triangle formed by the towns of Stiy-Peremyshl-Lvov as Soviet high command attempted to bring order from the chaos of the early border battles of Operation BARBAROSSA. Corps Commander Lt. General Ryabyshev was again ordered to turn his units east toward Brody to prevent a breakthrough. This move was an additional 75 miles, and wear and tear on his antiquated vehicles would be significant. Still, they had to move, and starting out at 0500 hours they quickly became embroiled in poor roads choked with refugees and other military units moving in both directions. As much as Ryabyshev disliked the idea, he was forced to move his Corps through Lvov’s painfully narrow medieval streets. As the Russians began their approach to Lvov, OUN sabotage activities became more and more bold. Ryabyshev’s recon troops soon found themselves deploying in streets and alleyways or rushing buildings simply to fight their way across the city.

2022-05-06(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Timo Kärnä Partisan (Ukrainian) win[Imported from ROAR]
2022-03-09(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Federico Corso Russian winVery interesting scenario, my opponent couldn't guess my VC choice (it was N.2) and he was sure that it was N.1 for which he was ill positioned to win.
Unfortunately in the process he went 15 CVP and since it was late we called it off, since there was a possibilily for him to inflict the last CVP consensus was that it was a russian victory. Call it adjudicated.
Nice scenario with a ton of replay value.
2022-02-01(D) Andy Bagley vs Jim Bishop Partisan (Ukrainian) winWe screwed this one up slightly by having all of the Russian forces entering on turn 1. Rather than abort, we decided to shorten the game by 1 turn (I had chosen VC option 1), although I'm not sure how fair this was. I also benefitted from some good DRs at the right time, which caused Russian casualties including a tank knocked out by LMG fire. Even so, having been initially delayed around the eastern buildings, the Russians swept forward, using Human Waves to accelerate their infantry movement. They still had at least a theoretical chance of winning as their last turn approached, although they would have had to run through a hail of fire. However, a final sniper shot broke a Russian squad, which failed to rally and left them with one squad too few for the Human Wave they needed on the last turn.
2022-01-26(D) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås vs Simon Russian winI chose VC 1 which became apparent when the russian Conscripts went on an offensive to find a HIP DC in a neighboring room. Simon’s Russian went on a total surrounding operation, and the Partisans had to concede after turn 4.
2022-01-26(A) Simon Staniforth vs Oyvind Russian winMy opponent has already posted on this game. I was fortunate to find the HIP DC in T1 thus revealing the required VC early. I took less damage than expected getting the motorcyclists on board and thereafter a steady infantry push towards the victory buildings. Some independent tank movement to freeze his squads helped, MOLs obtained but he was unlucky not to get a single AFV kill out of them. Sniper # for the Ukrainians is a hefty 6 so he was active but for once didn’t take out my better Leaders - I took the second Commissar and had one on each flank keeping the troops moving. An enjoyable game it would be interesting to play again with one of the alternative VCs
2021-11-10(A) Chuck Dye vs DD Russian win
2021-01-02(A) Rob MacGinley vs Rodney Ding Partisan (Ukrainian) winThree VCs to choose from - Hard to figure out which in the game adds to the excitement!!!
Sooo close to getting off the board - the obvious one in the end!
but - dead bodies cant be walked thru and the live ones bite back!!
2020-04-26(A) David Garvin vs Jean-Yves Tessier Russian win
2020-04-22(A) Rich Weiley vs Dave Wallace Russian winUkrainians opted for the exit VC which became apparent early on. They had a lot of difficulty countering the Soviet tanks.
2020-02-20(A) patrick palma vs Jack Boyle Partisan (Ukrainian) win
2019-05-01(D) Scott Sherer vs Andy Young Russian winWent for the exit VC and Andy was able to get 9.5 VP's off on the last turn for the win.
2018-08-19(D) Andy Beaton vs Jonathan Kay Partisan (Ukrainian) winUkrainians went for the CVP victory conditions. Went for a strategy of extreme fire discipline, only taking -2 or point blank shots in order to keep as many units hidden for as long as possible. Russians finished with 15 CVP and practically no one left alive or mobile.
2018-04-07(D) Jonathan Kapleau vs McDonald, Ralph Russian win
2017-12-07(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs Partisan (Ukrainian) win
2017-03-19(D) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. Partisan (Ukrainian) win
2017-03-16(A) Gordon Jupp vs Derek Cox Partisan (Ukrainian) winSo, the Ukranians know which VC have to be achieved by the Russians who don't?!! Fun game, I just adopted an approach that I needed to achieve all options in correct order! Didn't help as Derek was ultra aggressive with the defenders and came at the Russians hard. I managed a HW on T5 but it was too late and I couldn't take the neceassry buildings (which was the chosen option). Not helped though by one of the VC buildings being set on fire from an adjacent building where an attempted Mol usage had gone wrong! Highlight had to be Derek using a DC into an ongoing melee as he was desperate to clear me out! It worked my squad broke, one of his didn't :(
2017-02-20(D) Dan Best vs Randy Shurtz Russian win
2017-01-13(A) Michael Focht vs Brian Wiersma Partisan (Ukrainian) win
